Building & Code Enforcement

The Building Official/Code Enforcement Officer is primarily responsible for ensuring that the minimum safety standards are met for all structures within the City. This is accomplished through the enforcement of Municipal and International Building Codes.

Building inspections will be done by appointment only, please call 24 hours in advance to schedule an inspection.
Contact City Hall to obtain hours worked or to set up an appointment.
The Building Department Office is located in City Hall at 1300 First St.

General Duties

General duties of the Building Inspector include the issuance of building permits for new construction or the remodeling of existing structures, plan reviews, variances, appeals, conditional use permits, inspections, answer questions and provide code interpretations, issue correction notices and the coordination with all parties during ongoing construction projects.
General duties of the Code Enforcement Officer include the investigation of nuisance complaints, investigate dangerous structures, investigate and resolve complaints regarding land use, zoning violations, solid waste accumulations, overgrown vegetation, junk vehicles on private property and other code violations as outlined in the Municipal Code.
