Public Works

The Public Works Department in Cosmopolis is responsible for municipal services that provide domestic water distribution, sanitary sewer collection, street maintenance, storm drainage, flood control, park maintenance, cemetery care, and engineering.

The City of Cosmopolis domestic water supply is the City of Aberdeen who gets their raw water from the Wishkah River. The water is then sent through a state of the art membrane filtration system located approximately 14 miles up the Wishkah Valley on Squirrel Rd. The filtration plant went online May 1, 2000. The Public Works Department is responsible for all maintenance, construction, inspections, and water quality of the water distribution system in Cosmopolis.

The sanitary sewer for Cosmopolis is gathered in its collection system consisting of 5 lift stations and 1 main pump station then sent through a pressure main to the City of Aberdeen’s Waste Water Treatment Plant for treatment. The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance, construction, and inspections of the sanitary sewer collection system in Cosmopolis.

The Public Works Department is responsible for all street maintenance, including asphalt patching, sidewalk repair, ADA ramp installation, and storm drainage maintenance.

The City of Cosmopolis owns Forest Hills Cemetery in Cosmopolis. The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance and operations of this department. Any other inquiries about the Cemetery should be directed to City Hall at 360-532-9230
