Spring 2026 | Neighbors Helping Neighbors

When I started drafting ideas for this letter, I kept coming back to one simple
thought—Cosmopolis is a community built on people who care.

Community Spotlight:

This month, I would like to recognize someone who has made a meaningful impact on our City Hall and community Kasey Grove. Kasey has served as our Utility Clerk and Police Clerk, greeting citizens with kindness, compassion, and a welcoming smile. She has been a steady presence, always willing to help those who walk through our doors.

I appreciate Kasey’s support during difficult early days as Mayor. Her expertise, compassion, and optimistic outlook truly mattered during a critical time. Kasey is now moving forward to following her passion in police clerking, working with the City of Westport, and teaching online classes at the college. While we are excited for her next chapter, she will truly be missed. We invite you to send your best wishes to her on Monday, April 13th at 4:00 PM in the Cosmopolis Community Room.

Community in Action:

Earth Day – Mill Creek Park-517 C Street- April 22, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Join us for our Earth Day Volunteer Event at Mill Creek Park, in partnership with the Grays Harbor College Forestry Program, the City of Cosmopolis, and the Grays Harbor Noxious Weed Team. Whether you can join for an hour or the full day, your help is effective.

Spring Cleanup Voucher Program:

The city has 104 garbage vouchers available on a first-come, first-serve basis: Up to 200 pounds of garbage, or $14.30 credit toward disposal -Limit: One voucher per household Location: City Hall-April 13th – May 15th.

Makarenko Community Garden:

We are beginning to bring new life back into the garden. I am working with organizations interested in helping restore and clean up this space, with a focus on supporting food access for seniors and those in need. Community Work Party: April 27th | 1:00 PM. Getting the garden ready for the goats.
All are welcome. On May 4th, House Goat Haven Rescue will be bringing goats to help clear the area, an exciting next step in this project. Want to be involved, mayor@cosmopoliswa.gov

Upcoming Events:

Cosmopolis School Update the Cosmopolis School meets on the first Tuesday of each month in the lunchroom or via Zoom: Cherie Patterson Memorial Scholarship Run April 19th-Basket Bingo – April 24th Volunteers are needed, and donations for baskets and the silent auction appreciated.

Lions Club Update:

The Cosmopolis Lions Club continues to support our community through events and service. They are planning their first Mother’s Day Breakfast on May 10th, a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Mom. More information will be coming soon. Lions want to thank the community for the incredible turnout at the Easter Egg Hunt on April 4th, where 179 children participated and gathered eggs in just 44 seconds!

Council Meetings & Getting Involved:

City Council meets on the third Wednesday of each month, with a 6:00 PM workshop focused on the Comprehensive Plan. We encourage community participation—your voice matters.

Event Committee: We are forming an Event Committee welcoming residents who would like to help support and grow community events.

Coffee Hour with the Mayor:

I am excited to begin hosting a monthly Coffee Hour with the Mayor: Last Thursday of each month, 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM Cosmopolis Community Center

Aberdeen Police Services in Cosmopolis Partners Working Together:

With the great spring weather, children and adults will be out walking, running, and riding around town. This is a reminder that vehicles shall stop and yield to a pedestrian or a bicycle using a marked or unmarked crosswalk (RCW 46.61.235).
