CLAP YOUR HANDS, STOMP YOUR FEET AND GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO VOLUNTEERS MAKING A DIFFERENCE!

The flowers on First Street are in full bloom, thank you to the Cosi Petal Pushers for your hard work and dedication to keeping the planters watered. An extra set of hands is always needed for watering and caring for the planters, if interested please reach out to Marnie Schumacher 360-580-0268. The grass is green and growing. It is no small task keeping the city looking good, mowing is ongoing in the city. With that said-big shout outs to- Councilmember Skinner who mows Mill Creek Park, Brian Allen for the lawn care at Highland Park, Lions Park and Lions you are rocking the mowing at Lions Park, thanks Mark Rider. Denise and Bill Newman, your dedication to Olympic Terrace Park, the mowing and seasonal decorating is appreciated. To all of you, your commitment and community spirit has an influence.

Message from Police Chief Green: "As we enter the Dog Days of Summer, this is a friendly reminder to keep your four-legged friends from being at large. While most dogs are friendly, they are still animals and can act unpredictable at times. Behavior change can occur when they are threatened, scared, protecting their human companions, or even if they are injured. Cosmopolis Municipal Code states animals cannot be at large, and we encourage people to responsibly take care of their pets. Shade and water are also important during the warmer months".

Community Summer Happenings and Opportunities

  • Community Food Pantry operated by Councilmember Sue Darcy, is open every other Tuesday from 2:00–4:00 p.m. Thank you to Sue for your continued dedication to supporting residents in need.
  • Lions Park Library Summer Park Program will be held at the park on July 28th, and August 18th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • The YMCA Park and Play at Lions Park providing games, STEM projects, arts and crafts, and free lunch for youth up to age 18 from 11:30 to 12:30.
  • River of Life Summer Youth Programs are also available in Cosmopolis this summer. For more information, please contact River of Life 564-544-0596.
  • The Cosi Art Center Summer Art Day Camp runs June 23rd through mid-August as a drop-in program on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 1:30–2:00 p.m. Registration CosiArtCenter@gmail.com.
  • Coffee with the Mayor is the last Thursday of each month. Join me on July 30 from 10:30–11:30 a.m. for an informal coffee hour to ask questions, share ideas, or simply get to know your mayor.
  • Lunch with K, join our 50+ community members every Tuesday from 12:00–1:00 p.m. at the Cosmopolis Council/Community Center for lunch and fellowship. Tuesday July 21st K will host Bingo along with lunch. On August 11, Guest Speaker Jayne Reynolds be speaking about the Bloodworks Northwest Bloodmobile and the myths about senior donation of blood. You can be effective in someone’s life.

Upcoming July and August Events

  • River of Life at the Park will be held July 18th from 3:00–6:00 p.m. at Highland Park, featuring games, music, food, prizes, and community fun.
  • Grays Harbor Conservation District - Hosting storm drain marking Volunteer Event - Saturday July 25 from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM, Proposed Location: 2-3 blocks radius surrounding City Hall. Contact Breana Downs, Grays Harbor Conservation District, if interested - bdowns@graysharborboard.org or Mayor Springer at mayor@cosmopoliswa.gov. Donuts and water will be available at 10:00 AM and pizza will be at 12:00 PM at the Cosmopolis Community Center. We hope to see you there!
  • National Night Out – Tuesday, August 4
    National Night Out is an annual community-building event that strengthens the partnership between residents, law enforcement, fire personnel, and local officials. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet your neighbors, enjoy family-friendly activities, and help build a safer, stronger community. Citizens if you are interested and want your neighborhoods included in this event contact Ross Lampky, the Aberdeen coordinator at rlampky@aberdeenwa.gov or call Aberdeen Police station during business hours to be added to the list. Highland Park will be celebrating their 4-year National Night Out August 4 from 5:30-7:30 pm. Hosted by Mayor and her husband, Brian. Free hotdogs, music, games, and a neighborhood potluck.
  • The Cosmopolis Lions Club will be hosting their 14th Annual Scholarship Fundraiser Golf Tournament on Sunday, August 16th. Sign up now! Event will kick off at Highland Golf Course at 8am for shotgun start at 9am. Signup sheets are available at the golf course. $65 per person. Proceeds go to our local graduating students. Come out and join in the scramble and play some fun side games out on the course!
  • Volunteer Firefighters' Pancake Breakfast – Sunday, August 23
    Before heading over to Festival in the Park, stop by and enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast hosted by our dedicated Cosmopolis Volunteer Firefighters. This annual tradition is a wonderful way to support the volunteers who serve our community throughout the year.
  • Festival in the Park – Sunday, August 23
    Join us for one of Cosmopolis' favorite summer traditions! Festival in the Park brings our community together for a day filled with family fun, entertainment, activities, food, and vendors. If you are interested in being a vendor, please contact City Hall, or email mayor@cosmopoliswa.gov or call 360-532-9230.

  • Get the Facts. I want to encourage citizens to attend Council Meetings held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7pm. A key topic this month is the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) rate increase. We held an EMS informational meeting on June 15th for the City Council, with Fire Chief Golding, which was open to the public. We will be having the Public Hearing regarding the EMS rate increase before the regular scheduled council meeting on July 15th at 6:00pm. The Council will take action on the EMS rates during the council meeting following the Public Hearing.
  • Notice of Hearing-Cosmopolis School District has filed a petition with the City of Cosmopolis requesting to vacate “The alley ROW adjacent to Lots 1-20, BLK 49, Ruel Nims Addition to the City of Cosmopolis”. Location of property 1439 4th St. City Council will conduct an Open Hearing, City Hall, 1300 1st Street, Cosmopolis, WA July 27, 2026, Time 6:00PM.
