Maintenance Worker I Part-time
The City of Cosmopolis is currently hiring for Maintenance Worker I Part-time with potential for full-time. Salary Range $23.71 - $28.81
Experience, education, or training which provides the level of knowledge, skill, and ability equivalent to: High school graduation or GED; preferred one year of experience in street, wastewater, or water maintenance functions. Licenses, Certificates and Other Requirements: Valid WA State Driver’s License with a clean driving record First Aid Card Flagging Certification preferred or working toward completion CDL preferred or working toward completion of CDL. Duties and Responsibilities: Patches road surfaces with gravel or asphalt mix: empties dump trucks, spreads rock and gravel, tramps and rakes, uses roller on asphalt. Skills include carpentry, and painting skills for projects such as installing, repairing and painting park benches, fence posts and other objects. Serves as public works crew person performs traffic control, safety and department specialty functions. Helps layout and does street, sewer, water, storm water jobs such as leak repair, sewer mains cleanout and street sweeping. Leak repairs range from 2” pipes to 12” pipes. Perform clean-up work both in the shop and at job sites. Performs park maintenance such as mowing, fence repair, garbage pickup, restroom cleaning and other city areas as directed. Accurately and timely read and record water meter readings. Always working in a safe and professional manor. Other Functions: Participates in professional development as required for the position. Serves on various safety committees as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk and hear, reach with hands arms. Ability to perform heavy physical labor for extended periods at times in inclement weather. Occasionally required to use ladders. Use hands and fingers to manage, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls. The employee must frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Equipment Used: Equipment includes but is not limited to commonly used hand and power tools, carpentry tools and brush cutting equipment, propane-fired tar pot, motorized vehicles such as pickup trucks and dump trucks; chainsaws, shovels, rakes, machetes, axes, weed eater, push and riding lawn mowers, electric sanders and blasters, paint brush, rollers, and sprayer, 90 pd jackhammer, picks, breaker bar, sledge hammers, hand and power tampers, plate compactor, roller, gasoline and diesel pumps, compressors, generators, post hole diggers, ditch witches, pressure gauges. Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to accurately keep manual and computerized records. Understand the safe operation of both light duty and heavy-duty vehicles. Effectively and professionally communicate both orally and written with co-workers, city staff, management and the public. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, city staff, management and the public, work independently or cooperatively in work groups. Supervision Exercised: Supervised under the direction of Senior Public Work Employee and Mayor.
