Cosmo Specialty Fibers Mill Cleanup: Weekly EPA Updates Available

The City of Cosmopolis would like to remind residents that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) provides regular updates on cleanup activities at the former Cosmo Specialty Fibers pulp mill.

In August 2026, the EPA began a time-critical removal action at the mill to safely remove hazardous chemicals remaining at the facility. This work is being conducted in coordination with the Washington State Department of Ecology to reduce potential environmental risks to the surrounding community.

Residents can follow the progress of the cleanup through weekly reports and documents published by the EPA.
